Love the idea that we need all three lines of inquiry—and not surprised that option one is getting the most votes. If I had to pick one for Thanksgiving I’d probably go with the ministers bc with the scientists and philosophers there’s more risk they’d be all wrapped up in some super niche area of academia beyond my comprehension.

You are consistently the most thoughtful voter Anne. I agree the minister at least realizes that most people on Thanksgiving don't want to talk politics or religion!!! I would invite all of them. I think it would be best to have each of them prepare a side. Worst side washes the dishes, 2nd worst dries. Best side gets to correct them while they are washing and drying :) -- I recommend The Swerve b/c I didn't know who Lucretius was b4 I started. Thanks for commenting!

Oh I love the contest idea. Isn't Thanksgiving the best?

I love Thanksgiving. You have these wonderful holidays where everyone makes the effort to be together. Its fun to make it memorable. Don't forget you need to buy one of your least favorite pies.

You’re so right: we need more of a mixture of religion, science, & philosophy. They all ask similar questions with different methods. Also, I’ve been meaning to read The Swerve since it came out! Your post might actually get me to finally read it!

It was good not great IMO. I had read it previously (5 years ago) and loved it at the time. When it re-emerged on our book club list I re-read it. Its funny that either my perspective changed or it was a unable to make room for PTS (Philosophy, Theology, Science) If there was one more thing to consider starting with D PTSD would be a great click-bait title -- consensus of the club (hard graders as most of us been reading history together for 8+ years) was just a shade under 8/10. I am hopeful my cousin will read it and give his take.
