"Once we let go and embrace that we cannot change the past nor control the future, a new sense of self to make the most of the present becomes possible." Love this!

Thanks for all the fun in WLTR this year Mark! Looking forward to what you come up with in 2023!!

PS I voted for food and health because I think that is often when you are at your quirkiest and most funny, maybe because these topics are so mundane it gives your personality a bigger space to inhabit?

Thank you Anne! It now seems a worthwhile and durable hobby! I think the unexpected outcome was all the other cool stuff to read. I hope you enjoy the holidays and come back refreshed for more zaniness ahead. I've got one more post in the can written in advance but will make a point to not pay much attention. We are quite shut in here with the weather. It was -26F windchill yesterday. Ugh.

That is quite a compliment regarding food after you shared how you promptly dealt with a broken stove. That is one of my favorite laughs of the last year! You have also happily transformed me into a heavier user of the exclamation point. Thanks!

Very happy that my Twain post sparked this fascinating meditation. And looking forward to learning more about umami!

When you wrote Twain, I enjoyed his quote about history. Most of my posts come from unexpected observations. A random acquaintance shared her enjoyment of green bean casserole for Thanksgiving and that is where umami talk germinated. Enjoy the holidays.

Change is the only constant and curiosity keeps us alive to it!

I never read The Wizard of Oz (only watched the movie) but I did read the rest of the books as a kid, and again a few years ago. They’re good stories.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Best wishes through the new year.

The Wizard of Oz is sort of a cottage industry to "explain what it's about". Some think it is about the gold standard. Even then we had crazy people burying gold in their backyards for when "things get bad". The modern version is listening to "news opinon" and buying Kruggerands. I wonder what people bury on planets where there is a lot of gold.

You INSPIRED me to glance at the series of books written by L Frank Baum. THANK YOU. Here are three quotes me managed to share with us:

“No thief, however skillful, can rob one of knowledge, and that is why knowledge is the best and safest treasure to acquire.” ― L. Frank Baum, The Lost Princess of Oz

“Never give up... No one knows what's going to happen next.” ― L. Frank Baum

and, of course

“There is no place like home.” ― L. Frank Baum
