I thought it was very well-written! And I'm so happy to be on Substack. I blogged in the glory days of blogging, and Substack reminds me of them. So I totally agree that the best thing about it is the connections we make!
I am a retired engineer & tech guy. Google Reader and Google Desktop were the killer apps of all time! I think in the next year or so Google will become a bit more like Apple and start putting things behind a paywall at least on iOS. I wish they would bring those two products back as nothing has been able to fill the gap and it has probably been over five years now!!!
This is a wonderful post. I am leaving it open so I can come back and read it more carefully, but you are great at research and distilling facts. Good stuff!
What a kind comment. This was from my early days of writing when I wasn't quite sure what to write about. I got guidance from the leader of a creative writing group I had joined to write about stuff you know something about and that you feel strongly about. I have ALREADY joined TUMBLR and think the prompts are great! Far and away the best thing about Substack IMO is the people you might meet in the comments!

The reader and the inbox remind me of the best product Google ever abandoned, the Google Reader with a bit of promotion mixed in. Thanks again.
Oh man, I loved the Google Reader so much! I've never found anything as useful since they ditched it.
