For those reading this old post from the past, it appears because it was written a long time ago and just editted, the poll DNW -- I get to use a favorite jargon -- The poll is FUBAR.

Great read. I love your interpretation of “immigration fraud”. I do believe that immigrants who wished to become American citizens, had to study our constitution and familiarize themselves with our government in order to be able to vote. Unfortunately, today, many people are of the opinion that illegals should be allowed to vote! I believe the old standard should prevail and that neither legal or illegal immigrants should be granted the right to vote, unless they studied the laws of our land, passed a citizenship exam, and then finally took the oath of Allegiance to our great country. Becoming a citizen of the US is a goal, an earned honor to be a permanent part of these United States.

I remember the civics curriculum for my sons in high school and it was impressive! Even though I fancy myself as informed, the expectations of what they needed to learn was amazing. I agree that setting standards is a great idea. I am always amazed by how many Americans don't even know their State Capital :) -- THANK YOU (1) for sharing our family treasures (2) and hence the spark to writing this post! The degree of sacrifice that the family made to be separated was significant.

Pretty good stuff. You need to find a wider audience. I’m not a Reagan fan but I recognize the role he played in pulling us out of the 70’s malaise as you accurately called it. He was confident. He led. And he was reasonable especially compared to todays political leaders. There’s a YouTube clip of Reagan talking about the importance of immigration. It’s special. I’ll send it if I can find it. Thanks, Mark. A valuable read.

The link is fascinating. I learned about mitochondrial DNA when I took a DNA test on 23AndMe. I love the idea that it is possible to almost pinpoint where my maternal family came to reside. The availability of wild grasses must have been awesome after the struggle to survive in Africa. I can see why people began to settle down and certainly didn't want to go back!

Thanks so much! I loved writing this. Yours is a good perspective. I think the last time I saw an estimate, 99.8% of all the species on the planet in history are now extinct. Humans were probably down to about 40,000 left when we trekked out of Africa. It certainly reduces my arrogance when I think about it. Thanks for the link!
