So, if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there, does it make a sound? Of course it does.

As a mostly vegetarian, I am a huge mushroom enthusiast! They are so delicious & some of them have pretty remarkable medicinal purposes. They need better PR! Also, I’m traveling through Northern California at the moment & the trees! They are pure magic. This post helped me understand them a little bit better. So thanks!

I am a mostly vegetarian also although I refer to myself as an opportunarian as I will eat what is offered. I am a lover also of mushrooms so now I know I am in good company. We lived in Central California as newlyweds and the natural beauty was everywhere you looked! If you LOVE trees and want to marvel at resilience I wrote a two part post way back that was a little tongue in cheek titled (1) Methuselah The Man & "Methuselah The Tree"

As one of those big city dwellers I’d like to propose that there is perhaps also a symbiotic relationship between urban trees and tree guards/decorative fences.

I agree. I would assume as they begin to corrode, they release much needed iron for the tree to consume. After selling our long-time home which we planted a bunch of trees at, I hope the new owners don't remove them and take care of them. We used to get free trees on arbor day. It's funny how personally we can become attached to a tree.

Your comment also reminds me to ask about the rubber plant...I wonder if that makes this a cross-comment?

The video near the end explains the relationships between trees. Amazing. While I'm not rural, I would hate the concrete jungle
