There are few things in life as exciting as the beginning. I’ve always enjoyed a baseball analogy so let us start there. Another way to look at the beginning is beg-inning. I guess, in the world of baseball, since this is my first post, this is the top of the first “inning”. So where shall I begin?
If the beginning is as exciting as I describe, why is it so hard to try something new at times? I have always loved to write. There are many things we love and doing them can bring serenity which all by itself is a wonderful and standalone benefit. Having a passion to write needs to be coupled with having something to say. I have strong opinions and passion for a number of things so perhaps I can figure out a way to experiment with my voice and see what the world thinks. In this modern age, I guess we vote with our clicks. I discovered Substack due to my interest in reading what @Noahpinion on Twitter had to say. I guess I enjoyed his voice. Substack, if I were to define it for what it means to me is a low-friction way to discover great writing and ideas on a myriad of topics. I doubt my relevance at this early time. I do, however, believe passion plus talent plus repetition is the path to excellence and perhaps mastery. So, for now, this will be my place to exercise my writing muscle and perhaps find out if somewhere in this world there are people who enjoy what I have to say.
Creativity germinates an idea in our minds. The organization of our minds is remarkable. While we are only in the early stages of understanding the rudiments of our brain’s operation, anyone who has thought about it can intuit there must be durable and useful methods and processes we undergo to remember things that are important. It seems likely it is purpose-built to recycle the things we dwell upon so we can return to them another day. Perhaps there is a spot in our minds labeled “important stuff to get back to”. Whatever the reason or process, I am glad it exists and I hope that in the time ahead, I will move that “important stuff to get back to” to a new location labeled “things I’m doing that make me happy”.
If you happen to find this and are intrigued enough to come back, I promise I will give this my best effort. I think in the coming days, I will share a bit about myself, my interests, and where this wonderful adventure may lead. Thanks for reading.
