Happy New Year 2022
This is not a regular post, it is just good wishes for the New Year.
JWST Update
The telescope is more than halfway to its destination (500,000 miles plus) and the sun shield is out. Soon the telescope will start its deployment and alignment of its mirrors. The mirrors are made of beryllium hexagons coated with gold. There are 18 hexagons that comprise the mirror. If you had two more hexagons and 12 pentagons you could make a soccer ball!
Happy New Year
I managed 81 posts this year starting in earnest on September 29th. A good start. 2022 should bring forth 200+ posts if the current plan remains. My broad goals for the year ahead include:
Stabilize to a handful of themes that readers enjoy. I would love to hear what you would like to see more of and what you would like to see less of.
With respect to your time, I am focused to get the length of the posts manageable. I expect they will CONSISTENTLY be 5-7 minutes. As an added guide, I will include an estimated read time at the top as a guide.
I enjoyed the book review, at least in the context of a club with a theme (history). I will continue to review those books and include a broader perspective. I may also do some additional book reviews if I find something particularly riveting during the year.
Mostly I will continue to do twice a month reviews to try some improvements. The goal is to get better and I hope that leads to more enjoyable and better-written posts.
In the three months of writing, I have gone past 200 unique readers. My goal for 2022 is to reach 1000 unique readers.
The first two weeks I wrote I only had four subscribers! The readership has continued to grow slowly but steadily. I am happy that people are at least opening the posts. If any of you don’t want to deal with the emails, a reasonable option exists to look at them directly from the website at https://markdolan.substack.com. You could then just ignore the emails.
I greatly appreciate each and every one of you for spending a bit of time with me. Comments are greatly appreciated.
The song is a gimme today.
