I am breaking my general rule of thumb on posts. There just wasn’t an image that made sense to share regarding the day ahead.
Well after I posted yesterday, there was still the matter of Bills & Chiefs. The Bills were simply dominating last night and it was a joy to watch. Even the one-hour delay did not seem to matter at halftime. They picked up where they left off. While it is much too early to write off the Chiefs, the NFL in its genius enforces a hard salary cap. Patrick Mahomes is an amazing quarterback but in order to keep him, so many assets are tied up in one basket. The realignment may have begun. Andy Reid is still a great coach but there is not enough money left over to fix the glaring holes in their defense. While I did not stay up till the end, the game was decided and I would be awake again at 245 AM.
I managed to respond to that 245 AM alarm and the day had begun. I was certainly getting hungry now. Alas, my usual quinoa, pinto beans, and a poached egg along with some berries, one slice of high fiber seeded toast, tomato juice cocktail and a bit of dark chocolate were not in the cards. For my health, my low fiber diet of the last few days said nada to all of it except perhaps the poached egg. After I shook off the cobwebs, I found myself on the Imperial side of the metric argument. The “gas can” of prep for my procedure contains 4 liters. Four quarts would have led to 7.2 oz less and any relief would have been embraced. Eight more glasses of liquid and I should be cleared to go. When I was in school, the simple rule was “a pint is a pound the world around”. So much of the work in engineering is to know how big stuff is (volume) and how much it weighs (mass). I couldn’t help but remind myself that part of this process is to load up on eight pounds of liquid.
My son is picking me up at 645 AM and then it is off to the procedure. If it can start early I am all for it. After my 245 to 355 regime to empty the gas can, I decided that going back to bed was a bad plan anyhow. Lying on a bed with the extra liquid doesn’t sound like a plan that ends well. I am sure there is much gurgling ahead. I decided to head downstairs and get ready early. I figured I would start the day’s post and then pivot to something else. I am trying to be extra quiet as I don’t want the dog to start whining. I love Denny and he is a great companion at times. Today, however, I don’t want to get up and down unnecessarily for the next few hours. I got cleaned up last night before going to bed and decided that sweatpants were a great plan today, at least for the morning. I am already thinking about getting back to normal eating and cannot wait.
That is all for now. I am sure that 645 will come soon enough and then we can get the party started.

Well as expected the procedure went off without a hitch. The peace of mind that comes with completion is always a great feeling. Time for another PSA. Don’t defer your periodic medical testing. Address things early when they are easy to deal with. This advice applies to all aspects of our lives. I wish that I would have applied this much earlier in my life.
The rest of the day is shaping up as recovery and getting a nap. I am sure I will be good as new by the afternoon but easing off the anesthetic is always deceptive. I am going to sign off before writing something I will regret.
Next time we will get back to posting about more mundane matters. In deference to my mantra, there is a song for every occasion, give this song a spin.
Happy everything came out okay.
